When does a property repair become an emergency?
Not every property fault is an emergency, but some problems cannot sensibly wait. The key question is what could happen if the issue is left until normal maintenance can be arranged.
Safety comes first
Problems involving immediate danger to people, significant water escape, electrical hazards, loss of security or rapidly worsening damage should be treated seriously.
If there is a threat to life or a fire, gas or other emergency requiring the emergency services, contact the appropriate emergency service first.
Think about damage and disruption
A fault can also become urgent when delaying the repair is likely to cause substantially more damage, leave a building insecure or prevent a business or essential service from operating.
Unsure who you need?
You do not need to diagnose the trade yourself. Explain what has happened and Property Caretakers can help establish the appropriate response.
Give us the useful information
When reporting an urgent property problem, tell us where the property is, what has happened, whether the problem is getting worse, whether utilities have been isolated where safe to do so, and how we can gain access.
